forward scheduling

forward scheduling
Ops
a method for determining the start times for the various operations involved in a particular job. Forward scheduling is most often used when the operations department sets the delivery date for a job, rather than the sales or marketing departments. Jobs are scheduled for the various operations as the workstations are expected to become available. The customer can then be informed of the projected delivery date.
